Why do we feature only digital cameras? Well, sales of traditional or film cameras have dropped so low in the past couple of
years that there's very little interest in what's still selling. Any film cameras purchased are likely to be
disposables or, at the other extreme, medium and large-format cameras used by professional photographers.
It's no exaggeration to say that the advent of digital photography has caused a worldwide rejuvenation of photography as a hobby
or simply as a fun means of capturing and sharing memories. As the technology has improved and prices have dropped, millions of
people are now using digital cameras on a regular basis who were not using film cameras.
Camera phones are also now cabable of producing photos that, only a year or two ago, could only be taken with a
costly digital camera. The latest Nokia N73 includes a 3.2 megapixel auto-focus digital camera with Carl Zeiss optics!
The portability of camera phones can only mean that even more people will become "hooked" on digital photography,
possibly moving to higher-spec, standalone digital cameras.
